JULY SOCIAL CLUB on Land by Maggie O'Farrell | Thursday 9 July from 7.15pm

Each month we run a social club - a chance to meet and make friends while enjoying an evening of drinks, cake, and book chat. We pick the book and, whether you love it, hate it, or something in-between, there's always loads of great conversation and a lot of laughs!

For July we're reading Land - the much-anticipated new novel by Maggie O'Farrell, whose previous work has won the Betty Trask Award, the Costa Novel Award, and the Women's Prize for Fiction. Emma says... Exquisitely written - as you would expect - but on an epic scale never seen before from O'Farrell. Tracing the long legacy of Ireland's 'Great Hunger' in one family, and exploring the deep and sometimes mystical ties of place, this magical sweep of a novel draws you into itself as its characters move across Ireland and to India, Canada, and Italy.
