BOOK CLUB & SOCIAL CLUB - monthly; get in touch to book your space

Each month we run a book club, bringing authors, writers, and translators along to join the discussion. We also have a monthly social club - a place for you to come, alone or with friends, and chat about some of our (and your!) favourite books and drink some wine (or beer or coffee or softs or tea!) and create a wonderful social reading community.

To secure a place at our next book club or social club, and to get copies of next month's reads, please pop into the shop, message on Instagram, or email us at hello@collectedbooks.co.uk

FEBRUARY BOOK CLUB - White Moss by Anna Nerkagi, with translator Irina Sadovina
Wednesday 11 February, 6.30pm
FREE!

We're back to fiction in translation for our February book club and are hugely looking forward to reading and discussing White Moss - a stunningly mesmerising multi-voiced drama of lost love and the clash between youthful dreams and the complex ties of home. Playing out in the vast cold expanse of the northern Siberian tundra, this novel about tradition, change, and thwarted desire is a poetic and fiercely moving story of human frailties and minor tragedies.

We're delighted that we'll be joined for book club by the novel's translator, Irina Sadovina.

February social club is on the way in the form of totally creepy 70s horror Moths by Rosalind Ashe - read and loved by both Frankie and Morgan who can promise that you are in for a wild ride of a read! Our narrator stumbles across Dower House (think Manderley all over again..) and falls into a strange obsession with the place and of it’s new owner Nemo. Corruption, possession and sinister seduction strike the residents of Dower in this dark seductive horror.

FANTASY BOOK CLUB - A Language of Dragons by S. F. Williamson
Friday 27 March, from 7:15PM
FREE but get in touch to get your name on the list and a copy of the book...

Fantasy book club is back for March - and we’re discussing dragons 🐉 in the form of the YA dark academia fantasy ‘A Language of Dragons’. Taking place in an alternative 1920s Bletchley Park as a civil war rages across Britain, this book has been described as ‘uniquely compelling’ and comparable to the Scholomance trilogy - we all know dragons, dark academia and a clandestine love story are the magic ingredients to a great read!
